It has been 40 years since the release of Venus and Mars, fourth studio album by Wings (released May 27, 1975).
Most of the songs in the album were recorded in New Orleans, Louisiana, where the band went in January, 1975. During the recordings, drummer Geoff Britton quit, allegedly because of a personality clash between him and guitarist Jimmy McCulloch. He was substituted by Joe English.
Read here an up-to-date review on the album, specially the last two paragaphs, in which the author acknowledges Denny Laine’s contribution to Wings.
Watch Denny perform Spirits of Ancient Egypt, from this album, in November 8, 2013, at Tim McLoone’s Supper Club in Asbury Park, NJ.
